See that smile?
Wait. You can’t.
It’s 9 below zero outside, which is why I’m bundled up like an Eskimo terrorist.
But trust me, I’m smiling under that mask.
That’s because I just got back from my morning ritual, walking affirmations.
Every morning, rain or shine, sun or snow, I walk around the neighborhood for at least 10 minutes while chanting positive affirmations to myself. It’s Habit 3 of my 3 Habits of Growth.
We all know that the emotions in our head always trump logic. Emotions run our life. And emotions can ruin our life, if they’re bad enough long enough.
What is an emotion? It’s a mood, a state of mind. The word emotion derives from the Latin ex (out) and movere (move). A feeling moving throughout your body — that’s what emotion means to me.
If that’s the case, by putting your body in motion, you change the feelings in your body and, thus, you can change your emotions. Anytime you want.
Combine the motion of walking, the most natural of all exercises, with affirmations — positive thoughts that you choose — and you get a powerful mix. In my experience doing them over the past 8 years, walking affirmations literally put you in the mood for success. By changing and harnessing your emotions. On demand.
Any walking and any affirmations will do, although the program I’ve developed in the 3 Habits of Growth has worked well for many people.
Try it yourself and see.
